Paris Day 1!

Bonjour tout le monde!

It has been a long day but we are happily exhausted after our first day in Paris. 

We, our small group of 10 began our travels yesterday evening in Chicago with an 8h10 flight to Zurich!  The plane was big, they fed us well, though I think we did not sleep much due to excitement!  






Once we arrived in Zurich, we got our passports stamped and found our connecting flight to Paris.  This 1 hour plane ride was shorter but much bumpier.  😑


Hooooooorayyyyy Paris!  Our driver picked us up and took us to our hotel to drop our things off.  We waited patiently (emphasis upon this....) for the rest of our group and met at the Hotel de Ville in Paris, which is their city hall.  A little fancier than ours back home, right (completed in 1551)?  This weekend is the FĂȘte de la Musique, meaning that everyone celebrates music June 21st with outdoor concerts and street performers, but they carried it into Saturday for us.




We ended the night with a city walk around Paris thanks to our amazing tour guide Yamina, who lives in Lyon, France.  







We ended with a walk along the Seine!  A beautiful end to a marathon-of-a-day!  Tomorrow, more time in Paris starting with a driving tour, a trip to Versailles, and dinner in Montmartre where we get to see la Basilique de SacrĂ© Coeur!

Paris: Day 2!

Another day, another BEAUTIFUL day in Paris!  But first, French breakfast... my favorite! We started early this morning with a driving tour through Paris.  We got to see it ALL! Les Invalides (the place of NapolĂ©on Ier's tomb) Au Jardin du Luxembourg Statue of Liberty in the park nearby We learned that this tree was planted in commemoration of the victims of the 9/11 attack.  It is placed intentionally right next to the Statue of Liberty replica. l'Arc de Triomphe et les Champs ÉlysĂ©es! la Tour Eiffel (au Trocadero) Next, we went to le chĂąteau de Versailles, originally constructed by Louis XIV "le Roi Soleil".  With over 700 rooms at 721,206 square feet, no wonder our feet were sore by the end! Last Day in France / First Day in Spain

Bonjour et Au Revoir! I'm feeling MUCH better today, so lots more photos and comments. :) We are sad to say goodbye to France today, but very excited for the adventure awaiting us in Spain.  We started off with yet another delicious petit dĂ©jeuner at our hotel and left on the bus.  Our first stop was in Carcassonne, a town which still exists within fortresses built in medieval times; some were older than the Romans in France! The bus ride to Barcelona was fantastic, and surprisingly quick!  Nadia, our fantastic French tour guide passed off the mic for everyone to share a story or something funny that has happened to them on the trip thus far.  She even gave the opportunity for someone to sing if they wanted (no one accepted)! And FINALLY...  ESPAÑA!  To get from our hotel to the restaurant, we got to the take the tram.  SO clean and simple and perfect for getting to the city.   We knew for our dinner we'd be having Tapas tonight, and were excited!  We b
